Pre-Production & Mock-Up A projects starts with a spark of curiosity and a first vage idea! Building for the Metaverse is an amazing opportunity to blast trough boundaries and established concepts. We at SAND RUSH aim to design the extraordinary and create new and exciting spaces to explore. Each new build for an event space, a game or a Social HUB starts then to get created in a small scale mock-up to find the right design for the experience. At this stage, many details change, so distances and heights are not yet established. It’s all about to get the spacial awareness of the build.

JUNGLE RUSH - EARLY BUILD

Terraforming & Level Design Our level designers are now blocking out the landscape in the platforms native world editior (Game Maker). We have custom written tools to make transform prototype designs into whole estates in no time. Once we are happy with the build area by area will be defined by their charcteristic and later use in-game. Pathfinding and clever use of space will connect all previously designed sections. The focus is then on the overall landscape composition and background scenery to have an immersive setting in place. We also integrate first structures and landmarks to guide the player naturally trough the experience or gameplay.

CANYON DESIGN STUDY

High-Res Environment Design We often define an environmental narrative for the experience, which forms the basis for the design in subsequent phases. This provides us a deeper understanding in the “true essence” of the space and leads our design team to the look and feel of a the virtual environment individually for each section.

Modular Assets & Building Sets Despite the fact that we work with voxels our environment designs are beautifully modelled, highly detailed and natural looking. Every asset is still poly-count optimized so performance won’t suffer even with such a rich environment in place. To spice things up we add small elements to the landscape like fireflies or blooming flowers that are animated and bring the world even further to life. The level designer now keeps all elements of the game in mind to shape the player experience: game mechanics, gameplay, obstacles, story, etc.
